DRC was founded in 1876 and is part of the International Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement, which is the world’s largest humanitarian network with 15 million volunteers in 192 countries providing protection and assistance without discrimination as to nationality, race, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. DRC's international work focuses on prevention, preparedness, response, and longer-term development actions. It is carried out in partnership with National Red Cross/ Red Crescent Societies across the world and their volunteers. This distributed network brings people together to drive the changes that will create more equal and resilient societies. DRC also engages with a wide array of stakeholders to develop new, collaborative, and joint problem-solving models that will drive lasting and impactful changes.
