What is this webinar about?

In this introductory webinar we will cover megatrends which has influenced the biggest change in the financial sector in decades. We will look at these changes related to sustainable and impact investing growth rates, systemizing different investment strategies and become familiar with different motivations that stand behind social investors. Experienced practitioners of venture philanthropy and impact investment will share their perspectives on the development of impact space in our region and practices from the field.

Robert Manz

Robert Manz

Robert has spent the last 30 years in the private equity industry in Central & Eastern Europe ("CEE").

Robert is a former Managing Partner and Senior Advisor of Enterprise Investors, the leading private equity fund manager in CEE, where he joined the firm at its very start in 1990 and worked until 2020. Robert was Chairman of the Central and Eastern Europe Task Force of Invest Europe, from 2003 until 2020 and was most recently a member of its Mid-Market Council.

Robert was the founding President of the Polish Private Equity and Venture Capital Association ("PSIK"), established in 2002, and has served on PSIK's board for 15 years. He currently heads the PSIK Philanthropy Committee that manages the PSIK Social Business Accelerator Program since 2011. Robert is also a co-creator and board member of the Valores Foundation, Poland's first venture philanthropy fund, established in 2014.

Prior to joining Enterprise Investors, Robert worked with Dillon, Read & Co., an investment bank based in New York, in its M&A advisory business.

Robert graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, summa cum laude, with a degree in Finance and Management of Entrepreneurship.


Espen Daae

Espen Daae

Espen works for Ferd Social Entrepreneurs as Portfolio Manager and Business Developer. He has extensive experience of venture capital and consultancy in the areas of renewable energy and biotechnology, as well as experience in Corporate Finance and business development.

He focuses on the development and commercialisation of ground-breaking technologies, primarily in the fields of alternative energy, life sciences and next generation electronics. He also follows the investments and strategic consulting process at Ferd. Espen graduated in engineering at the University of Surrey and holds an MBA from INSEAD.

Stanisław Kastory is a co-founder of Firlej Kastory - family investment firm implementing impact strategy in VC investments.

Before establishing Firlej Kastory Stanisław worked as a M&A lawyer in Domański Zakrzewski Palinka - one of the biggest law firms in Poland. During his time at DZP, Stanisław established and led DZP Future, a project aimed at developing collaboration with early stage technology companies.


Ewa Konczal

Ewa Konczal

Ewa Konczal joined Impact Europe in May 2014 and is the Market Building Lead. Ewa is spreading the knowledge about impact finance in Eastern Europe and MENA.

She manages the first Polish VP Fund Valores, initiative of PE community in Poland. Ewa has over 15 years of experience in social entrepreneurship as Representative of Ashoka in Poland and as Ashoka Director for Central and Eastern Europe.

Prior to Ashoka, Ewa worked in India with Global March Against Child Labor, and in Egypt with AIESEC and Egyptian-Polish Businessman Association. She has set up the Magic Mountain Foundation, using mountain sports and natural horsemanship as tools for change for people with disadvantages. Ewa is the recipient of the AIESEC Alumni Entrepreneurship & Leadership Award. She holds a Master's degree in Marketing and Management.

She planned and managed 90+marketing campaigns for more than 60 brands and dozens of strategic sustainability projects for leading firms and stakeholders engagement processes. Alumni of Swedish Institute Management Program in Corporate Responsibility (Stockholm, Sweden), Kozminski University in Responsible Business Strategy (Warsaw, Poland) and Executive MBA at Imperial College Business School (London, UK) candidate.
